Therapeutic and cosmetic neurologist, Dr. Kyna Squarey serves as the sole movement disorders specialist in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.  Dr. Squarey has over 20 years of experience treating both men and women with botulinum toxin for numerous neurological conditions in her thriving community practice at Proactive Wellness Galway in St. John’s.  In 2017, she began the journey of moving into the cosmetic world to help her patients achieve their desired cosmetic results.

Dr. Squarey began her career in undergraduate studies (Honours in Biology and Psychology) at Mount Allison University before entering a Master’s Program in Neuroscience at Memorial University.  She went on to graduate from Memorial University’s Faculty of Medicine.  Continuing with her love of nerves and muscles, she pursued a Neurology residency at McGill University in Montreal, QC.  She then went on to do additional training in the subspecialty field of movement disorders in Ottawa, Ontario

Dr. Squarey is a caring and compassionate individual who always prioritizes her patients' well-being.  She is committed to lifelong learning and attends many conferences, workshops and networking events annually to keep up to date with ongoing research, products and techniques in the field of Aesthetic Medicine.  She has become aware through her years of experience of how important one’s self-esteem is and how it can significantly impact people’s lives.

Outside of work, Dr. Squarey pursues several other activities.  She was a long-time marathon runner, competing in numerous marathons across North America, including New York City, Chicago and Boston.  Currently, she is very involved in bodybuilding, achieving her IFBB Pro status in Women’s Bodybuilding in 2019.  She is passionate about encouraging people to live healthy lives and incorporating a healthy diet and exercise into their daily routine.

Finally, she loves to spend time with her family.  They are the centre of her world and keep her grounded.  They are, after all, what pulled her back to “the rock.”
